One of the first things I made when I started pottery (at Mudspinners, thank you, Cathy) was a wee salt cellar. I threw a little closed form and learned how to make a lid. My teacher trimmed it for me and I thought it was so easy, until I tried trimming one myself. I’ve improved since then, and, taking things with ye olde grain of salt, can make them in different sizes and shapes ON PURPOSE!
This glaze is meant to look like the bands of flavor a pinch of salt adds to food—like colors mixing.
